Community groups across Scotland are holding events from 10 to 18 August to celebrate Community Land Week.

Forty-five projects are taking part in the week-long celebration of all things community ownership this year -- three times as many as in 2018! 

The Woodland Crofts Partnership has recently been awarded £33,000 over two years to support and promote the development of woodland crofts.

The announcement was made by Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy, Fergus Ewing MSP, when he attended the Nairn Show.

The 2019 SURF Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration are currently open for entries.

​These prestigious awards are delivered each year by SURF, a regeneration forum with over 300 cross-sector member organisations across Scotland, in partnership with the Scottish Government.

The purpose of the awards is to highlight, celebrate and share the achievements of initiatives that address physical, social and economic challenges in communities across Scotland.

Scottish Land and Estates are now seeking nominations for the 2019 round of the Helping it Happen Awards.

Now into their third year, the awards are looking to build on past success and acknowledge the enormous contribution that rural businesses make to the Scottish economy.

The Scottish Government has announced funding to continue the Warmer Homes Scotland initiative until 2022.

Warmer Homes Scotland is designed to help vulnerable people make their homes warmer and more comfortable by installing a range of energy saving measures such as new heating systems and insulation.

Since the initiative launched in 2015, thousands of people have been helped to become warmer in their homes, with households saving an average of over £300 a year on their energy bills.

A shortage of affordable homes in rural Scotland is being highlighted by Scottish Rural Action at the Rural Housing Scotland Conference today (Friday 22nd February) in Birnam. Four short case-study films will be screened that explain the impact of the lack of affordable homes in rural communities.
