Scotland’s first ever National Islands Plan was published in 2019 and is now being reviewed as required by the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018, which may lead to the publication of a new National Islands Plan. 

Apple Days! Broadford Village Hall & Stromeferry & Achmore Village Hall

A celebration of apples! Come and learn all about varieties, growing, nurturing growth, grafting, pressing the list goes on!

There will be local growers and experts on hand to tell us all they know.

The first workshop will be at Broadford Village hall on Saturday 7th October and then it will be repeated at Achmore Village hall the following week on Saturday 14th October. Each session will run from 1pm to 4pm.

The Farm Advisory Service (FAS) has extended warm congratulations to Joan Brown, the founder of 'Lucky Ewe', for receiving the prestigious Points of Light award from the UK Prime Minister.

Farmers in North Ayrshire, West Aberdeenshire and Orkney will have the opportunity to benefit from free business support via the Royal Countryside Fund (RCF) flagship 2023/24 Farm Resilience Programme which gets underway this autumn.

Highland Good Food Partnership (HGFP) provide support and opportunities to collaborate for community food related projects in the Highlands, including community food growing and food banks.

Their members are individuals, charities or businesses who support a transition to a sustainable, more localised food system in the Highlands – and Scotland more generally – which provides social and environmental benefits for local communities.

Organisations awarded share of accessible advice fund.

People struggling to manage their household finances can now benefit from increased support in a range of community settings thanks to a new accessible advice fund.

Almost £1 million has been distributed to partnerships between advice agencies and other local services such as schools, charities, hospitals and mental health services.
