A practical day discussing  paddock grazing and the benefits it can bring, optimising animal performance from pasture.

The importance of functional genetic traits will also be discussed.

Speakers include Murray Rohloff, NZ sheep/grazing consultant and Robyn Hulme, Easyrams.

The day will also include  a visit to Montalt Farm courtesy of the Ritchie family.

A practical workshop on a hill farm looking at effective ways of treating fluke and worms. It will cover diagnosis, control, different treatments, and pasture management. 

Can you change things to improve health and productivity, and maybe even save a bit of cash? Practical demonstrations will show the principles in action – with handling, weighing, and faecal egg counts.

The Scottish Land Commission have added more dates to their series of Meet and Greet events.

Meetings in Inverness, Islay and Oban have been added, following the success of the first Meet and Gree events in April and May.

The new Moray LEADER programme launched at the Morayvia Aerospace Centre recently.

Around 80 people from agencies, businesses and community groups attended the launch event on 26 May to find out more about the £3.5 million fund.

The Rural Leadership Programme is being expanded to the Highlands and Islands.

Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise have joined forces, giving people involved in rural businesses in the Highlands and Islands the opportunity to join the popular 13-day programme.  

Opportunities and future perspectives for resource efficiency in rural areas

The event will build on ongoing European Network for Rural Development (ENRD) thematic work on  ‘Resource Efficiency’, including aspects such as water use efficiency, soil and nutrient management, and soil conservation and carbon sequestration.
