Small producers will be able to access a range of new support through a new government pilot to help them become more sustainable.

The Small Producers Pilot Fund has been allocated over £180,000 which will be used to assist small producers and crofters to establish more localized supply chains and cut food miles.

CEA Webinar - Growing vegetable crops in controlled environments

The webinar will provide an introduction to controlled environment agriculture (CEA), also known as protected cultivation or growing. The guest speakers will provide an overview of different forms of CEA, share trends and innovations and explain where the challenges opportunities lie.

A grant of £80,000 has been awarded by the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust to Scottish agricultural charity, RSABI, with a focus on supporting the charity’s ambitious drive to improve farmers’ mental health.

An action plan has been published which supports the Culture Strategy for Scotland. The plan provides details of how the Scottish Government will deliver the ambitions of the Culture Strategy.

A Loch Lomond hill farmer has raised an incredible £13,340 for RSABI and Diabetes UK by hosting a stock judging event in memory of her mum and sister. 

Farmstrong Scotland - Marc Gascoigne - Farmstrong ambassador

Marc Gascoigne is a New Zealand dairy farmer and ambassador for Farmstrong in New Zealand.

He visited Scotland in February and March 2023 to share his personal story of depression, resilience and wellbeing, and was part of a tour of 14 events across the country, that helped highlight the importance of Farmstrong and share some positive steps that he uses to manage his wellbeing.

The Richard Huxtable Award has this year been awarded jointly to a number of young people who have gone the extra mile to support RSABI over the past year. 

Anyone who has been involved with agriculture for up to five years could now get £500 towards the cost of training from the Scottish Government’s Next Generation fund.

Managed by Lantra Scotland, the fund is open to both men and women, including students and those already in full-time or part-time work, regardless of age.

Integrated Land Use Conference 2024

The Integrated Land Use conference will take place 26 - 28 March 2024 in, and around Kingussie.

This year will be focussing on where we have come from and where we are going in terms of land management and use. What has changed and what has worked. Many aspects will be discussed like community, attitude/behaviour evolution, inclusivity, diversity, forestry, agriculture, wildlife and game management, energy, tourism and many more exciting topics.
