Lanarkshire Community Led Local Development (CLLD) are taking a new approach to support rural communities by working in partnership with the Rebel Business School to support those looking to start a new business.

Join a small group going through the same, facilitated by Caroline Millar to gain support and share experiences. This is a monthly online support meeting.

Farm Retail Masterclass - Scotland's Agritourism Monitor Farms Programme

Starting at Macbeth’s Butchers which is a family run business that provides high quality meat products throughout the UK.

In the main, the beef is provided from their own farm, Edinvale, in upland Moray where they rear traditional Scottish native breeds. These are reared in as an extensive, natural environment as possible being fed grass, home grown hay or silage and no growth promoters. Macbeth's also supply a full range of pork and lamb from local farms with a similar philosophy. Macbeth's venison and game is also sourced locally.

FAS Connect Conference

The inaugural FAS Conference will be held on 31st January at Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh. The conference will bring together members of the 45 FAS Connect groups from across Scotland. This event gives attendees the opportunity to take a step back from the day to day and look to the future. Panel sessions will form the basis of the day with a mixture of expert panellists and farmer speakers covering topics such as Global Outlook, Time and Technology and Carbon and Biodiversity.

Women in Agriculture Scotland Networking Lunch

Join Women in Agriculture Scotland for some delicious food, drinks and networking as well as a "fireside" chat with some key ladies in agricultural journalism.

A bid to nominate Affric and Loch Ness as Scotland’s third national park has been launched, with organisers saying the area’s globally important natural and cultural heritage deserves protection and celebration. 

The partnership behind the proposal says the area of the Scottish Highlands is one of the world’s most beautiful places, and national park status would benefit current and future generations.

The first businesses on Fair Isle have been connected to full fibre, almost two years ahead of schedule.

The subsea cable stretches 68 miles from the Shetland to Orkney Islands, with Fair Isle reached by a spur line. A post office and shop are among businesses which are already connected and all premises on the island can now order the service.

CEA Webinar - Growing vegetable crops in controlled environments

The webinar will provide an introduction to controlled environment agriculture (CEA), also known as protected cultivation or growing. The guest speakers will provide an overview of different forms of CEA, share trends and innovations and explain where the challenges opportunities lie.
