Twenty farms across Scotland will be opening their gates as part of Open Farm Sunday 2016.

This year's Open Farm Sunday takes place on 5 June. The annual celebration managed by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) sees farms across the UK welcome visitors to their farms.

Open Farm Sunday is the farming industry’s annual open day.

On Sunday 5 June, hundreds of farmers all over the country welcome visitors onto their farms to discover the world of farming. 

Open Farm Sunday, managed by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), is one of the farming industry’s biggest success stories. Since the first Open Farm Sunday in 2006, over 1000 farmers across the UK have opened their gates and welcomed people onto their farm for one Sunday each year.

Open Farm Sunday - North Balluderon Farm

Caroline and Ross Millar are set to welcome hundreds of people on to their farm as part of Open Farm Sunday on Sunday 5th June.

The Scottish Rural Parliament are holding events across the country to help them create a Manifesto for Rural Scotland.

The agricultural European Innovation Partnership (EIP-AGRI) works to foster competitive and sustainable farming and forestry that 'achieves more and better from less'. It was launched in 2012 by the European Commission.

The deadline for applications to the Beef Efficiency Scheme has been extended until 15 June 2016.

A deadline extension has been announced by the new Rural Economy Secretary, Fergus Ewing, for the Beef Efficiency Scheme (BES), meaning farmers now have until 15 June 2016 to apply for a share of up to £45 million beef sector support scheme.

The previous deadline for applications was Tuesday 31 May.
