Economy Secretary Fiona Hyslop has welcomed the recommendations of the Advisory Group on Economic Recovery.

The group, led by Benny Higgins, was tasked with recommending solutions to ensure transition towards a greener, net-zero and wellbeing economy, and to advise on measures to address different challenges the economy will face as Scotland recovers from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The First Minister yesterday announced Scottish Government's plan for gradually lifting restrictions during Phase 2 of lockdown.

Further changes to lockdown restrictions in Scotland have been announced today (Thursday, 18 June) by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

New approach put in place as Scotland moves to Phase 2 of recovery

Face coverings will become mandatory on public transport from Monday 22 June, as part of operators’ preparations for progress towards recovery and to reduce the risk of transmission.

A £230 million Return to Work package has been unveiled to help stimulate Scotland’s economy following the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The initiative covers construction, low carbon projects, digitisation and business support and will provide a flow of work for businesses and support jobs. It is funded by the reallocation of underspends from schemes interrupted by COVID-19.  

New projects featured in the package include:

A new collection of digital maps is to display the funding being given to support communities across Scotland affected by coronavirus (COVID-19).

A number of Tyne Esk LEADER projects have successfully adapted to the 'new normal' brought about by COVID-19.
