This week sees the start of construction work on a new village in Skye – the first in over 100 years!
The Kilbeg Village initiative is being taken forward by project partners Sabhal Mòr Ostaig - The National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture, The Highland Council and the Communities Housing Trust.

A programme to drive the economic growth of the agritourism sector in Scotland is set to receive more than £442,000. The programme will see the recruitment of four farms across Scotland, with the involvement of a wider circle of eight rural businesses around each farm.
At least 400 further individual rural businesses will also participate via meetings and seminars.

Naturescot are consulting about a future National Park for Scotland as part of the the Scottish Government's commit to designation of at least one new National Park during the lifetime of the current Scottish Parliament.

The Gaelic Capital Fund, which is now in its 14th year, will help support the growth of a number of projects over the coming year with almost £3 million investment as part of plans to expand the reach of the language across Scotland.

An islands researcher is looking to hear from people who used to live on a Scottish island and who have other long term island connections. Kirsten Gow, herself based on the Isle of Jura, has developed a survey in a bid to understand how people stay connected to island life whilst living elsewhere, and what part islanders who live off-island could play a part in the future of island life.
