Communities and organisations across rural and island areas have a fresh opportunity to secure funding for vital infrastructure projects through the Energy Saving Trust’s Rural and Island Infrastructure Fund.

The fund is designed to support initiatives that improve local energy systems, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen community resilience. Projects eligible for support may include renewable energy installations, energy efficiency upgrades, and innovative infrastructure solutions that benefit remote and rural communities. The Rural and Island Infrastructure Fund is funded by Transport Scotland.

Delivered by the Energy Saving Trust, the programme aims to accelerate the transition to net zero while addressing the unique challenges faced by island and rural locations, where energy costs and infrastructure limitations can be more acute.

Funding is available for projects that demonstrate clear community benefits, environmental impact, and long-term sustainability. Applicants are encouraged to put forward proposals that are well-developed and aligned with local needs.
