Village halls are often the heart of a community; places for people to gather, learn, access services and have fun.

However, with a limited funding landscape it is now more important than ever that communities are able to maximise the potential benefits of their community spaces to help building sustainable and resilient communities.

This case study film features three community spaces from across rural and island Scotland and shows how each group has managed to adapt their facility to the communities needs by utilising Community Led Local Development (CLLD) funding, part of the Scottish Government’s Rural Development Programme.

With many thanks to Forgandenny Village Hall, Comunn Eachdraidh Nis and the Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust for sharing their experiences and insights.

This case study is the first in a series of case studies focusing on community led local development and community led enterprise.
